When it seems as though no more legal options exist to prevent your client's eviction or prevent the termination of their Section 8 benefits, bankruptcy can be an immeasurably valuable tool to accomplish those goals. This workshop will explore when, how and under what circumstances bankruptcy will: (1) immediately delay an eviction; (2) allow legal challenges to these threats in bankruptcy court; (3) permanently prevent eviction; (4) prevent denial and termination of Section 8 benefits; (5) permit counterclaims and other actions to be asserted against a deserving landlord in a quite-possibly-more-sympathetic bankruptcy court.
